Hi hello hey hi, I'm Aprille!

Film has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the 90s, when it was the go-to option. I love the authentiticy of film, how it captures a moment in time exactly how it was. Unedited and real.

I have fond memories of my mom capturing every moment of my childhood with her Minolta camera. From my first ballet class to family vacations and annual Christmas cards, she documented every milestone and moment in between. We have stacks of family photo albums that tell the story of my childhood, thanks to her.

Ape’s Film Diary has been a long-time personal project. Since 2015, I’ve been shooting film consistently and wanted a space to collect and share my photos—much like those family photo albums.

I've never been much of a writer, so the diaries I kept as a child were always a jumble of messy handwriting, magazine clippings, film photos, hand-drawn doodles, and stickers.

When I decided to share the memories I’ve captured on 35mm film, it only made sense to embrace the same creative spirit I had as a kid. A photo diary, shot on film.
